Dandy Style: today

Over the decades, the classical female dandy style has been transformed many times and many ways. The trend proved too powerful to ignore and almost every relevant designer since the 1960s has created their own reimagining of Le Smoking – mentioned in our post: Dandy style: the classical.

Since in fashion there is always an ongoing change, the female dandy style has seen many alterations. Sometimes it gets even closer to the very origins of the masculine dandyism – highly aesthetic, aristocratic, abundant, but also feminine
(referring to brands such as Brunello Cicinelli, A.L.C., Audra, Au Jour le Jour, For restless sleepers etc.); on other occasions it is completely deprived of details and female treats. The only thing remaining is the resemblance of the form (referring to brands such as Frame, Assembly, Altuzarra, Cedric Charlier, Balenciaga, Paul Smith etc.).

No matter the design preferences, one thing is for sure – over the years it has become so popularized and promoted by celebrities – Blake Lively and Emma Watson (photos below) – that the dandy inspired items are nowadays produced on all of the levels of the fashion pyramid. From luxury brands to the fast fashion companies.
